Another old thing i needed to rebuild ...
The polycound was horribly high on that shitty model, something like 300 000 , completely useless if you ask me ... so i dedided to rebuild every part with my new " shapemerge overkill with no useless polys" ....

i had to redo the medal bars too, because they looked horrible...i tried some renderable splines, but it turned out crap too, so i used standard booleaned stuff.. i am not happy with the netal material, but i can change that after, no worries ...

So far this is what i have ... there is still a lot of work to do on it, but hey, the polycount has dropped at 60 000 now ...
The cage was a bit useless without something to protect, as one of my fellow wolfpacker remarked, so i added some kind of technogreeble engine thingy that gives a bit more details to the model ...

So far this is what we have .... today i suppose i will work a bit on the engines you se on the left and right, that gives boost and steering ... that thing should be interesting to animate in fact .... Of course i will have more cables ( REMEMBER : if you want your models to look cool, add some cables, it makes all the difference !!) and greebling here and there.
Designing the engines, ah well, i need to add a few cabled there...

Engine finished, and a new texture for the big pipes, much better now ...the yellow/dark pattern is a simple map i did in photoshop...nothing fancy
I Dumped all the other old stuff, including the piece of space shuttle cockpit..now i have an idea for a new cockpit...
As yopu can see, i still need to add some details to the ass, that is still from the old days, so i may have to rebuild the thing anyway..
Shite, i have never been stuck on a mesh like on this one before, progress is very slow and ideas are coming very slowly too, but i know it's got potential, that's why i don't give up ... note the glow effect on the shiny parts to add more realism ...

Alrite ( american spelling for "All right" which is the real original british spelling) , that's a start for a cockpit... i wasn't really convinced at first, but well it looks ok right now ..
As you can see, the cockpit doesn't reflect whatever map you'll find and plug into the reflection slot, here it is a clever arrangement of raytrace mapping that will reflect only if there is something to reflect, you see newbies usually don't have the intelligence to realize that glass is black/transparent where there's nothing to reflect ...so basically, a black material with some specilarity and a raytrace reflection is a good start :)
A bit of wirint is always good for realism, and well if you frequent the same public place i frequent, you'll see a lot of people now doing what i do ( it means i rule and i am so good people worship me now ) , adding wires here and there... so i sugges you do it too :)

Here you can see two strange "thingies" on the sides .. this is where i will add some long arms and tools ... well lok i could add some weapons too but remember this is not a Klingon ship so NO , no weapons ..
3 images of the vehicle in landing/take off configuration, as you can see it seriously KICKS ASS now ... :)
